St John’s, Marsh Green, welcomes you most warmly
St John’s Church is a community gathered from Edenbridge and the nearby villages, including Marsh Green itself. We offer a variety of styles of worship and include activities for a range of ages. We aim to develop a family-friendly atmosphere and to make decisions with all ages in mind.
We believe that the best guide we have to God is Jesus, who shows that the deepest meaning to life is love.
Being part of St John’s Church enables us to:
- celebrate what is good in life,
explore Jesus’ way of love through putting it into practice, - worship, learn from the Bible and pray,
- care for one another and our neighbours,
- care for the world in which we live.
St John’s has been awarded Gold Eco Church status and a Child Friendly Church award.

Our Worship
Services are at the heart of the church’s life when we are enriched by our worship and by meeting with each other in a relaxed way.
Our service starts at 10.30am and lasts an hour. There is a relaxed atmosphere both before and during the service, with coffee being served after the service.
Communion is usually celebrated on the second Sunday of the month. The invitation is to all, including children, to take part.
Child Friendly Church
Children are warmly welcomed as part of the church family, all of whom worship together for the first 20 minutes or so of the Sunday service. The children then leave for Junior Church.
Junior Church
We have a varying number of children at our service each week and they are involved with many aspects of church life, including sometimes helping to welcome people at the door as they arrive, reading the Bible passage in the main service, taking up the offertory and being part of a mixed age singing group.
Eco church
Members of St John’s URC Marsh Green have long been concerned with issues of justice and peace, and being good stewards of the planet is a natural extension of this.
The most visible signs of our eco-credentials are such things as the rows of photovoltaic panels high up on the slate roof which mean that the church is a net exporter of electricity, and the rainwater tank that tops up the wildlife pond and another that waters the plants.
Our Facilities
We understand the importance of providing an environment that allows time and space for fellowship, worship, teaching and prayer.
Our premises are available to hire for retreats, away-days or even children’s parties.
